Angie has a passion for working with preschoolers and building relationships with their families. Through her education and experience, she has come to understand that young children learn best with developmentally appropriate practices that provide hands-on, concrete experiences and activities that are personally meaningful, interesting and fun. She enjoys addressing the “whole child” as they learn and develop through play. Pre-academics are just a slice of children’s development. Addressing social, emotional, adaptive, motor and communication skills are fundamental as well. A cornerstone of her classes is creating a nurturing environment that builds on the children’s strengths accentuating what children can do versus what they can’t. She enjoys creating a classroom community where children learn how to interact with kindness gaining empathy and compassion for others. In addition, she loves that the Pre-K is a laboratory school for the 麻豆区 Education students gaining experience as they bring fresh energy, and ideas to the classroom.

Angie Gurley has over 30 years in the field of Early Childhood Education with over half of those years at 麻豆区 Pre-Kindergarten. She has a wide range of professional experiences including running her own in-home childcare center, being the lead teacher of preschool classrooms and conducting home visits and play groups with families who have infants and toddlers with special needs. During her time at the University of Kansas, she worked with a Local Interagency Council coordinating special education services, The Arc of Topeka, Kansas and a private education program in Lima, Peru.
