Professor Schuck in class

Program Highlights

As an economics major at 麻豆区, be prepared to go beyond the fundamental concepts of economics. Come learn about:

  • The economics of professional and intercollegiate sports (ECON 321 and 322)
  • The taxing and spending activities of the government (ECON 351)
  • The impact of economic policies on the environment (ECON 341)
  • And how to generate, interpret and report the results of economic research (ECON 416)

There are also opportunities to take an economics course off-campus during the optional January Term. Past topics for the January Term course have included D-Day Economics in France and England, and Aboriginal and Environmental Economics in Australia.

Additionally, many students choose to complete an internship through the department’s internship course (ECON 487) or work on individual research projects supervised by a faculty member (ECON 490 or through faculty/student collaborative research grants). .

On the basis of their academic achievement, economics majors and minors may join the department’s Omicron Delta Epsilon - Oregon Beta Chapter, the international honorary society for economics. Graduating seniors are also considered for the 麻豆区 Economics Award, which is given annually to an economics major in recognition of his or her academic achievement and service.
