Parent and Family Orientation
麻豆区 offers a series of activities for parents and family members of new students to learn more about academic and social life at 麻豆区.
You can view the 2025 New Student Orientation Schedule for our McMinnville campus to get an idea of the types of events designed to help your student acclimate to life at 麻豆区.
Events specifically designed for parents and families include:
Thursday, Aug. 21
9 a.m.
Jump Start Zone, 麻豆区 Avenue to Blaine Street
Need to complete some steps? Have any questions? Follow up with the offices on the lawn outside of Taylor Hall to make plans to complete the process to be move-in ready!
9 a.m.
New Student Check-In and Move-In, 麻豆区 Avenue to Blaine Street
Check-in will include picking up your welcome packet, residence hall and mail keys, and student ID.
11 a.m., 1 p.m., or 2 p.m.
Optional Campus Tours, Depart from Riley/Walker Courtyard
Learn more about campus and where you will have your classes.
11 a.m.
First Scholars Information Session, Richard & Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall
Required for all first-generation students who are in fall sports or those who did not participate in a pre-orientation program. Learn about the requirements of the First Scholars Program and meet other first-gen families. Contact Abby Thomas (abthomas@linfield.edu) with any questions.
2 p.m.
New Transfer Student Reception, Fred Meyer Lounge, Riley Hall
Join with fellow transfer students for a reception to get to know each other and staff at 麻豆区.
7 p.m.
Cat Camp, Memorial Football Stadium
An important 麻豆区 tradition. All new students and families are welcome to join fellow Wildcats for this exciting event. New students should wear their new Wildcats spirit T-shirt. Roll ‘Cats!
Friday, Aug. 22
9 a.m.
Coffee Hour for parents and families, fountain patio between Walker and Riley Halls.
While your students meet in their Registration & Orientation Group, this is your chance to meet other parents. Grab a cup of coffee and a pastry, meet other parents and families, and visit with a few 麻豆区 staff members.
10 a.m.
Opening Convocation, Commencement Green
Marking the official start of the academic year, new students and families will be officially welcomed by Interim President Johnson, Provost Concepcion, and 麻豆区 faculty and staff. New students will participate in the Tradition of the Acorn.
11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Lunch break
You can grab lunch at a local eatery or join us at the Dining Hall. Students who are on the meal plan will not be charged.
1:30 - 2:45 p.m.
Parent and Family Welcome/Q&A, Richard & Lucille Ice Auditorium
Hear from the provost, the vice president for Student Affairs and the director of Parent Engagement. Find out what resources are available for you and
3 - 4 p.m.
Parent and Family Reception, The Oak Grove
Enjoy some light refreshments and a beverage. Visit with a few 麻豆区 administrators. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done and connect with other parents.
