Confidential Survivor Advocacy FAQs

  • Will our discussion be confidential?

Yes, a certified advocate in Oregon has the same level of privilege as an attorney. This means that you are in charge of your information, and nothing you disclose will be shared with anyone else.

There are a couple of exceptions to this (including the mandatory reporting of child abuse), all of which the advocate will discuss with you at the beginning of your meeting.

  • What if I decide I don't want to report?

You are the decision maker, and whatever you choose to do will be honored and respected by the advocate. The role of the advocate is simply to ensure that you have the support and information needed to make an informed decision.

  • Do I have to pay to meet with the Confidential Advocate?

No, this service is free to all students, staff, and faculty.

  • How do I meet with the Confidential Advocate?

You can contact Emily by emailing advocate@linfield.edu.
  • Are there any off-campus advocates I can meet with instead?

Yes, there are many certified advocates across the state. A great local option is Henderson House, an advocacy center in McMinnville. Visit their website .
